Love and Peace

Hi everyone, I've been playing with another art journal page, but remember these techniques could be used on a card or layout just as easily.

I prepared my page using gesso and allowed to dry, then used Colour Spays and Shimmer Mist Sprays to created background colour and patterns.
Draw a large heart and paint outside it with opaque paints (yes, you cover some of your work!)  I used Fire Engine and Bling Colour Paste through a stencil to add patterns.
Mix various Colour Shimmer Dusts with gel medium or texture pastes and use through other stencils.
Keep adding patterns and textures, have fun!

I added Snow White Colour Paste through a bubble stencil, and drew some accents with a white journal pen.

The completed page and some close ups.  (Wish I could capture the sparkle in photos.)

Thank for visiting,
happy scrapping,
Tina

Playing with colour

Hi everyone!
Had lots of fun creating this.  It started out as a plain sheet of white cardstock.  Would you like to know how I did it?

Start by positioning your photos and adhere a few pieces of white cardstock.  Put photos aside and lay a stencil over your page.  Apply texture paste with a palette knife and then while still wet, spread Colour Paste in Bling, Tangerine Dream, and Fire Engine (i found doing this part with your fingers allowed greater control and I was able to create a nice fading effect in places)

Once dry spray Shimmer Mists were sprayed and dripped.  Chipboard pieces were either sprayed or embossed, and the Kutalicious acetate 'fence' was heat embossed (love that these products can be used on so many different bases).  Something else to note is that you get different effects, dependent on the colour of the item you are embossing, how cool is that???

Lots of layered piece for interest, I love the contrast between the subtlety of the Shimmer Spray with the intense colour and shine of the Colour Pastes.

I added a bit of stamping using Stazon, don't you love how it turned out?

Happy scrapping,
Tina

Mixed media layout for Lindy's

Hi everyone.
The layout I'm sharing with you today was created using some of the colours from the April Limited Edition set.  They went perfectly with the photos taken during a trip to Melbourne last year, visiting the famous bathing huts at Brighton Beach.

Here's how I created it....

Paint a thin layer of gesso over your cardstock.  Once dry, layer various mediums through stencils and allow to dry.

Lightly mist with water so the mists spread and blend better.   This will give you more of a watercolor effect.  Spray Summer Lovin Sun, Magnolia Magenta Gold, and Tilt-a-wheel Teal in patches, then allow to dry.

Flick some of the colour onto your page, create splats and drips if you like.

Cover chipboard title with embossing ink, and cover the top half with Tilt-a-wheel Teal embossing powder, and return excess to container.  Repeat using Aurora Amethyst on the bottom part, heat, then repeat the process again so your embossing is nice and raised.

Add some gems to embellish, and don't forget your journaling!

Thanks for visiting the blog today.
Happy Scrapping,
Tina

"Be Yourself" layout for Lindy's Stamp Gang

 Hello again!
I love getting messy with mists and creating textures, so I had heaps of fun creating this layout!

Here's my tutorial.

Apply embossing ink through a stencil, and sprinkle Queen Sheba Silver embossing powder in patches.

Return excess embossing powder to container, and then sprinkle Angel Wings Gold over the remainder of the embossing ink. Melt using a heat gun.

Spray in patches and paint some of the individual bricks using Cosmopolitan Pink, Cape Cod Coral, & Down The Rabbit Hole Starburst sprays, and South Shore Sand Flat Fabio.

Add some stamping.

Apply modeling paste through a stencil, allow to dry.  Spray with Shabby Turbine Teal and Cest la vie Cerise, then add splats with Toto's Tornado Black.

Of course you need to add some journaling.  I tend to write mine quite small as I don't want it to dominate the page, plus I don't really like my own handwriting.  But it will be important to the future generations to have your own writing on your pages.

I added a little Tainted Love Teal Starburst spray in places to create extra contrast.

Happy scrapping,
Tina

The Van Roe Tags

Hi everyone!
Today I wanted to show a couple of tags I created using The Van Roe collection.  I love making tags because there's a multitude of uses for them, including as an embellishment on your layout, as a gift tag, bookmark, or pop it onto a card.  They are great to try new techniques out on too!
Cut Sew Jo paper to size and tear across the top.
Die-cut Chandeliers and attach as shown.
I applied Gel Medium through a stencil and once dry, sprayed with my favorite mists to add colour, shimmer and highlight the pattern.
Cut a dress form and ruler from the Sew Jo papers.

Die cut two of Simonetta, one from black cardstock, and one from Sew Jo paper, and layer as shown.  Diecut an Ornate Rectangle from Sew Jo paper, Emboss the decorative outer frame and reverse the inside section. Assemble elements on your tag.

I used the Tied Together die as a stencil and misted over it to create a lovely shimmery background.
I cut a Birdcage and Ornate Rectangle from Core'dinations cardstock, and embossed the center of the rectangle with Peacock Fans embossing folder.
I diecut Celebrate and a Beautiful Butterfly from Core'dinations Glitter Silk cardstock.  I highlighted the bird and outer frame with Silver Glitz'n Glamour, and tied some fibers at the top.
 Here's my two tags together!
