Mixed media layout for Lindy's

Hi everyone.
The layout I'm sharing with you today was created using some of the colours from the April Limited Edition set.  They went perfectly with the photos taken during a trip to Melbourne last year, visiting the famous bathing huts at Brighton Beach.

Here's how I created it....

Paint a thin layer of gesso over your cardstock.  Once dry, layer various mediums through stencils and allow to dry.

Lightly mist with water so the mists spread and blend better.   This will give you more of a watercolor effect.  Spray Summer Lovin Sun, Magnolia Magenta Gold, and Tilt-a-wheel Teal in patches, then allow to dry.

Flick some of the colour onto your page, create splats and drips if you like.

Cover chipboard title with embossing ink, and cover the top half with Tilt-a-wheel Teal embossing powder, and return excess to container.  Repeat using Aurora Amethyst on the bottom part, heat, then repeat the process again so your embossing is nice and raised.

Add some gems to embellish, and don't forget your journaling!

Thanks for visiting the blog today.
Happy Scrapping,
Tina

Tutorial for Off The Rails Scrapbooking

Hi there, I'm just sharing a tutorial I created for Off The Rails Scrapbooking which is lots of fun.

Dimensional Magic Resist Technique

1. Stamp images using Stazon, chalk, or pigment inks ( so they don't bleed in the later steps)

2. Apply Dimensional Magic to various areas where you wish to create a resist effect.  I filled in the butterflies and loosely outlined some of the grasses.

 3. Allow to dry.

4.  Blend two or three complimentary Distress Inks using a circular motion with a foam applicator.

5. Lightly mist or flick some water over your tag, which will create a nice distress effect.  Allow to dry

Creating a celebration cup!

Hello everyone, it's Tina here with a celebration cup I created for a friend of mine. Some of the ones you see in the shops are very expensive, and I wanted to create something personal as a gift.

It does need to be cleaned with care, and I suggest a very gentle washing of the outside and pat dry with a soft teatowel.

Here's a tutorial on how I decorated it:

Mix a small amount of Magicals with Gloss Gel Medium on a palette or piece of plastic.  I only used around a tablespoon of Gel Medium to create this project.

Mix the Magicals in well, and ensure the colour is an even consistency.

Apply coloured Gel Medium through a stencil on the lid and around the sides of the glass.  This was quite difficult and I recommend using a small stencil with a pattern that doesn't need to be "perfect".  I worked in small sections and heat dried the gel before moving onto the next section.

Ink metal flower with clear embossing ink.  Sprinkle Morning Glory Azure on the outer edges of the flower.

Sprinkle Aurora Amethyst in the center. and then heat emboss.

You'll have lovely colours, which blend across your flower.  Repeat this process with metal leaves and other flowers.

Ink the stem and base of the glass with clear embossing ink, sprinkle desired colours  and heat emboss. Attach metal embellishments and gold edging using gel medium and allow to dry.

Thanks for joining me today, I hope I've inspired you to go create something beautiful!

The Van Roe Tags

Hi everyone!
Today I wanted to show a couple of tags I created using The Van Roe collection.  I love making tags because there's a multitude of uses for them, including as an embellishment on your layout, as a gift tag, bookmark, or pop it onto a card.  They are great to try new techniques out on too!
Cut Sew Jo paper to size and tear across the top.
Die-cut Chandeliers and attach as shown.
I applied Gel Medium through a stencil and once dry, sprayed with my favorite mists to add colour, shimmer and highlight the pattern.
Cut a dress form and ruler from the Sew Jo papers.

Die cut two of Simonetta, one from black cardstock, and one from Sew Jo paper, and layer as shown.  Diecut an Ornate Rectangle from Sew Jo paper, Emboss the decorative outer frame and reverse the inside section. Assemble elements on your tag.

I used the Tied Together die as a stencil and misted over it to create a lovely shimmery background.
I cut a Birdcage and Ornate Rectangle from Core'dinations cardstock, and embossed the center of the rectangle with Peacock Fans embossing folder.
I diecut Celebrate and a Beautiful Butterfly from Core'dinations Glitter Silk cardstock.  I highlighted the bird and outer frame with Silver Glitz'n Glamour, and tied some fibers at the top.
 Here's my two tags together!

I've been busy making flowers.  Fabric, paper, leather, large and tiny!  You'll see why in a few days, but for now I'd like to share a tutorial with you.
