NVS Challenge

I decided to enter this one in the Nerdy Victorious Scrapbookers January challenge.  This is the inspiration collage.

We could take anything fromit as our inspiration.   And here's my take...
The elements I used were the dots, butterflies, pink, white, flowers, fabrics (with the ribbons, & felt), girl holding a flower.

Lots to share

Its been a week since I last posted, so I have lots to share.  I received two surprises in the mail yesterday, my prize from A2Z Scraplets December challenge (with lots of cool chipboard), and a RAK from The Netherlands with a stamp and lovely card (from Jolanda at Scrapbookchallenges.ning.com).  It made a wonderful change from the bills and junk-mail that the postie ormally brings!
Here's my take on the 123 Challenge for January, which was to use punches, the word "beautiful", and purple (a colour I rarely use). I found a photo I'd taken near our fishing spot, just down the road from our house, which was perfect for this.

I used Dusty Concord Distress Ink on  the edges, Creative Imaginations rubons, Thickers, and Martha Stewart punch.

A layout which came together quickly using the sketch from Scrapbookit.  I have inserted a tag for my teenage daughter to journal on (these are her photos & she's not interested in scrapbooking, but is very good at writing).

Two new layouts

My first layout is my entry for the challenge at Lets Get Shabby where the inspiration for this month is architecture.

I started off using Distress Ink on all the edges, then I got carried away with the different paints, and inks and the layout kind of evolved. In the end its probably ended up more artsy than shabby, but I had fun creating it, and I think it shows off the photos. I have two journalling tags tucked behind the photos.

I used Alcohol Inks over the German Scrap archway to give it some golden tones.

This one's for the Born 2 Create challenge which was to get shabby again'' and create a shabby chic layout using the following...... lace, stitching, flowers, fabric, a lovely journal tag, paper tearing and distressing, layers, and the word Special.

More floods for Queensland

My heart goes out to all those affected by the floods in SE Qld.  (They are saying on tv that the first wall of water that hit Toowoomba was 8m high.)  Many areas are being evacuated right now, as the flood waters move down river.  For those of you who read my blog from overseas, the extreme flash floods that happened yesterday/last night are within 140km of my house.  We are lucky we are on higher ground.  The scary thing is it's still raining, and there is a king tide tomorrow, which will cause the river levels to rise even more.  7700 properties have been identified as being at risk from these floods.
We've been told we our suburb is cut off, so are going out to check/buy some food supplies.

Back again, ....we are cut off on two roads, & almost cut off from the township, but the other road is fine.

I've got a few layouts I've done in the past couple of days.

This layout is using a Page Maps sketch for Paper Secrets Dec/Jan Sketch Challenge.

This is the same creek that was in my "flooding" picture last week.

And a card using only scraps.  The ribbon is recycled from a Christmas gift, and the other bits were still on my table from other projects.

January Challenge entries!

Its still raining, so I've been scrapping.  Got this layout done for Scrapping Outback's "White with...    'challenge.  I love the colour combo which was white with a touch of pink, blue, purple, and brown.  Check out their blog for the DTs gorgeous examples.  Heres my take on it....

I Glimmer Misted my white cardstock, and added hand-dyed crochet doiley and lace, plus cut some flowers using Tim Holtz Tattered flowers die.  I added a few more flowers, some pearls, and The Paper Studio "Spare Parts"letters.

The next challenge I had fun with was for the  Brittannalee Stamp & Scrap January sketch challenge.  I loved the sketch, think it worked really well for my LO.  Here's the sketch...
And here's my layout....
I hand-dyed the laces, and used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam on the chipboard, and pink flowers.  It gave it a really nice sparkle.

And I did a third layout, this time for the Manufacturer Challenge at Paper Secrets, with the fab Webster's Pages.  I love their products!
