Using the "Scraps"!

Hi everyone, Tina here with some creations to share with you using the scraps from my die-cuts.
I love the Artdeco Lace Frame die, not only because it's such a great design, but the scrap pieces are such cool shapes. I just knew I had to create some mixed media pieces using them. I die-cut some thin chipboard for extra dimension, and arranged the shapes in a pattern on my tag.

I applied Modelling paste through the die, using it as a stencil, then washed it immediately.

Once dry, I sprayed my tag with various mists.

I diecut and heat embossed a section of the Artdeco frame.

This was inlaid over the misted modelling paste design.

I cut two of the Beautiful Butterfly and a Fancy Christmas Flourish , which was heat embossed.

And a few more close-ups!

I also used the Artdeco Lace Frame on this mixed media journal cover, which I'll be teaching as a class in October.

I added Cappucino Ornamental Lace die, Beautiful Butterfly, and Fancy Christmas Flourish, before spraying and adding other mediums.

Playing with metals!

Hi everyone, Tina here with a tag I made for a "Metallic" swap. It was lots of fun to make so I thought I'd share my process with you.

I cut two tags and then tore the top third off of one, the bottom section was then covered with metal foil tape.

I embossed this using Classics Embossing Folder.

Cover with black paint, dry it off slightly with a heat gun, and wipe some of the paint off in patches, then dry completely.

Sand the embossed area to burnish the metal foil.

Smear some bronze paint in patches and sand once dry.
Ink the edges of then swipe some metallic paint onto the tag base. Attach foil piece Cut Art Deco Lace Frame from black Core'dinations cardstock, and attach as shown

I cut Key To My Heart and Simplicity Borders, I only ended up using one of the borders and embossed it with an aged embossing powder. The keys were heat embossed with thick metallic embossing powder.

I added a few metal charms, and it was done. The thing I love about creating something like this is that you can use it on a card, a layout, as a special tag on a gift, or as an uber-cool bookmark!
