YAHOOOOOOOO!

After a really, really, really bad week, and me in tears all yesterday , I got some good news this evening. My layout was selected as winner in the Scrapping Outback challenge. And I receive a 6 month subscription to Scrapbook Ideas Magazine....and my layout will be published in the mag! This will be my first time published in a magazine so I'm very excited. I was going to post some pics but, I'm not allowed to until after the mag is out.

Glimmer Mist challenge entry

Had a busy day today with our Freebie Friday - today's chat was on interactive pages and "Blast from the Past" layout class. It was funny looking back on how many interactive pages I've done, ranging from simple hidden journalling tags to complex stars, and flowers that open out to reveal the photos. Either way they're lots of fun and they engage the person looking at your layout.

Here's my entry for the Glimmer Mist challenge at Scrapping Outback. I used Watermelon, Gold, Brick and Meadow green on some old K & Company paper to give it new life. I coloured my lace with Glimmer Mist, and used alcohol inks on acetate for my photo mat. This layout was so much fun because of all the different techniques.

Better news

Yay...we now have water, although it cost me $80 to get an electrician out to repair the damage done by the dogs. Had a busy day teaching cards and scrapbooking classes. And I even got some scrapping done myself.... well I got half a layout done!
Here's a look at some of the embellishments I've been making lately.

Not a good start to the day...

Woke up this morning and there was no water, a short while later my not-so-happy hubby hands me the plug from the end of our water pump .....which our dogs had chewn off. I'm suprised the little buggers didn't get electrocuted! Now for those of you that have the luxury of full pressure town water, I'll explain the significance of this sequence of events.....being on acerage we have water tanks with a pump to supply the water to our house. No power equals no water. So this morning everyone had their baths with a face washer and small bowl of water (courtesy of some bottled water),.... and it's a little cold today! Oh well, the day can only get better from here!

Some quick layouts

Here's a few simple ones, you know, when you just want to get the layouts done and out of the way.

Busy weekend

Wow, what a weekend! I feel as if I've hardly seen my poor family. Saturday I was teaching classes at a fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer at Strathpine (which is about 70 kms from where I live). I left home at 8:30 am and didn't get back till about 10:45pm. There were a heap of shops and the ladies from Kutterlicious were demonstrating their new acrylic laser cut embellishments. You can do so much with these (will have to show you another day!) I managed to get a double page and 3 single page layouts completed ...and I journalled! (Those of you who know me understand that I struggle with journalling)

Then on Sunday I had to collect the oldest daughter from a sleepover, drive the girls to their dance studio photo day, then the youngest had a playday, .... Mum's taxi service got a workout once again!

Here are some pics of a card I made for my best friends birthday.

I used Co-ordinadations embossed cardstock which is just gorgeous, sanded and inked it, and then distressed the edges.

I borderpunched K & Company Que Sera Sera paper, added some ribbon, flowers and a diecut butterfly, then some Kindyglitz and a few pearls to finish it off.

Some pretty pink cards!

I've been busy making cards for the card classes I'm teaching over the next few weeks, and I loved doing these ones. I think it's because they are so pretty and girly. I used the gorgeous Martha Stewart border punches and Spellbinders scalloped oval dies on this one.

I embossed my mat with a Sizzix embossing folder, inked it, and highlighted the birds and leaves with Kindyglitz. Then I stamped a sentiment, added some leaves and flowers, and a butterfly cut with the Marianne Designs die. Added a few rhinestones and I was done.

Another card using the Martha Stewart punches and Marianne Designs butterfly die.
